Recently, Dell, VMware, and Microsoft Azure joined hands to release Azure VMware Solutions, which will enable customers to run VMware’s software stack in Microsoft Azure’s public cloud. The new product is built on VMware Cloud Foundation, a software stack with computing, storage, and networking capabilities. According to the partnership agreement, the joint customers of VMware Workspace One and Microsoft 365 will now be able to manage Office 365 on devices integrated with Microsoft Intune and Azure Active Directory. VMware agreed to extend the capabilities of Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop using its VMware Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure. VMware workspace ONE running on Microsoft 365 offers intelligent solutions to organizations looking to empower their employees. This integration will give more choices to the customers, allowing them to augment their digital growth.
Azure VMware Solutions is designed to allow customers to run VMware-based software stacks on Azure, facilitating seamless operation and management with a shared operating framework. With this, organizations can leverage existing VMware applications like VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and vCenter combined with the performance and innovation offered by Azure.
The partnership will simplify the customers’ technology environment, paving the way for the integration of edge, core, and cloud. Dell Technologies has consolidated the VMware software stack into the Dell EMC hardware, which is designed to host the hybrid environment of enterprises. The integration of Dell EMC systems and VMware Cloud Foundation with Azure aims to streamline the operations between the logical and physical level.
It will allow organizations to utilize the security and fast provisioning cycles of Microsoft Azure to innovate and improve their applications.
